Define the process around the specification.

Structure, fiber choice, forming method and inspection criteria should be considered together when developing a molded pulp pack.

Key stages in molded pulp development

Tooling & forming

Geometry, drainage and release affect what can be formed consistently. Review these details before finalizing the structure.

Drying & finishing

Forming and drying routes affect surface texture, detail and dimensional consistency.

Inspection & packing

Define the agreed acceptance criteria for fit, dimensions, appearance and packing before production.

Dry-pressed or wet-pressed?

Dry-pressed structures typically have a more textured appearance. Wet-pressed or thermoformed approaches can produce smoother surfaces and finer detail. The suitable route depends on the geometry, appearance, performance and cost objectives.
Physical samples should be used to agree on color, texture, product fit and acceptable variation. A photograph alone cannot confirm these characteristics.

Agree on quality before production.

  • Approved product-fit sample and dimensional requirements
  • Material and appearance reference
  • Defined contact points and critical clearances
  • Packaging and stacking requirements
  • Any agreed transport, material or application-specific testing
